Startitis
Had a little falling down in the projects department. I'd been planning to start Heather's Christmas socks once I got done with the previous pair on the needles, but this got there first:
This is MimKnits Flutter Scarf, in Skylark Yarns Les Oiseaux, a 70/30 alpaca soy blend. I hated the last laceweight yarn I tried to work with, but this is going OK so far. Two minor lacewrecks salvaged already, and the colour is much nicer than in the photo. I love MimKnits patterns, they are clear and precise and lead you gently into things you didn't think you could do. I'm a bit perturbed about picking up the cast on stitches for the second half, but I have plenty of time to worry about that. Also, am I a person who would wear a ruffled scarf?

Fluttering
Thirty repeats in to the Flutter scarf from MimKnits and I have the lace pattern memorised. There are a hundred of these four-row repeats in total, fifty on each side so I have a long way to go at my current rate of three or four repeats per weekday.
Looking forward to the next two charts and making the ruffle, because I'm getting really bored with this part. I might have to start something else to take the edge off. This is my first laceweight object and I like the light feel but my fingers feel odd after a long session. The yarn has subtle colour shading and I think it would look great with a matte silver (or aluminium) shawl pin. Flutter is intended for me but Irene already asked to borrow it when it's done.

Almost, but not quite
Finished half of the Flutter scarf at Saturday morning knitting with Karen in Borders cafe, picked up the stitches for the second half in a quiet room at home and had a horrible time re-starting the pattern. I need to rip it out several rows, a pattern and a half, and sort out a glitch with a misplaced YO and k2tog. So close...
It looks lovely though, and I think I will wear this when it's done.

Oct 20th, fixed the glitch. One repeat down, 49 to go...
